I too am Irish and celebrate by going out to eat with friends/family and drink a bunch of green beers! Unfortunately, I haven't been to a parade or a big party for St. Patrick's Day yet but plan on it!

I have a very distant Irish grandmother (great great great or something) and I occasionally celebrate on the 17th. I usually always wear green, too, but probably because I have a ton of green clothing. I actually had a green beer for the first time a few years ago. I would LOVE to see the river green in Chicago sometime or celebrate in Savannah!

I may or may not do it. There are some Irish bars that have special stff then in my home town of San Francisco. My gal is from japan, so we not be be around Irish bars 3/17. I forget such things. She is willing to try Irish food and drink if we are at an Irish pub.My surname is French, but Dad's mother was said to be part-Irish.

I wear green only because I do not want to get pinched. My uncle who is Manx (from the Isle of Man) is married to and Irish woman and was shot by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) back in the 1990's. He did not die but he and his whole family had to go into hiding for 5 years. They only came out of hiding when another one of my uncles passed away. Can you imagine having to go into hiding for 5 years just because you married an Irish woman and not being able to see your brother for the last few years of his life. I have been pretty angry at the Irish ever since.

Yeah, I am of Irish descent, but I don't do St. Patrick's Day like I used to. Maybe its because I don't drink anymore. It used to be a day of quaffing and carousing...and yes, there was a fair amount of green involved.

Now we just quietly celebrate my sister's birthday (March 17) and eat a little cake and ice cream. As she grows older (she's 23 this year) we do less of that than we used to as well.

Someday I will celebrate nothing.

I am not even a tiny bit Irish, but I like the idea of St. Patrick's Day. I love the line from the Sopranos when Christopher told Tony Soprano that he went to hell and that hell is an Irish bar and every day is St. Patricks Day. That is so awesome!

Yes, corned beef, potatoes, cabbage for dinner. Lime cream pie for dessert. My mother did genealogical research till she found enough to prove that we do have a bit of the Irish flowing in our veins.
Perhaps that is why blarney run so smoothly off my tongue?
