Yes, I went to a career fair about 3-1/2 weeks ago and will be starting a job later on this week that came about from the career fair.

Here is what I suggest. If you can, find out what companies are going to be at the career fair. Do your research and find out what areas those companies can use help on, especially if it is something that you have some experience or expertise in. By showing how you can be valuable to the employer, you may end up with an interview.

Make sure you take your resume, and also a notepad. Get their names at the booths, and then send a thank you note. Before going, prepare a short statement for each employer about why you would like to work for them and how you can help them. Be friendly and respectful and dress like you are going for an interview. Most likely they will pick the best candidates to interview within a few days.

I ended up with 3 companies out of 11 that I visited request an interview with me and got the job at my first choice for an employer.

Not me personally, but my husband went to a career fair at his college, and got his job straight out of college and worked there for 7 years, paid him well, and then he left from there, for an even better job, for much more money. So you have to start somewhere, and take the chance because you definitely won't get the job by waiting for it to come to you. So take a chance, and if you do happen to get the job, then, I'm sure that a better one will be in your near future, if you just allow them to train you and learn all that you can learn from them. After you put up with all of the mess, you will eventually be their boss, which is the way America works.

Sure have. Career/Job fairs are an excellent resource to land a job and if not that, at least you can start networking from it. Just always be prepared, you never know, they may interview you on the spot.
