Helen Mirren actually ticked me off a little. I am an American so I really am not a fan of the "royal Family" anyway, but this queen that they have now I can not stand. And I honestly think Helen thinks that she is "the queen" after playing that role.

The only speech that I really thought was interesting was Scorzesies (I wasn't sure to how to spell it) and the guy that thanked the troops for the Iwo Gima movie.

I am really surprised that there was so little political commentary with everything that is going on. It is always amuzing to see people who have no grasp on reality make comments about the state of the world.

I found out that this is what people in other countries do out of respect for their monarch, only usually it is some type of drink,at a dinner and then the people at the dinner usually say 'The Queen' and then precede with their dinner.I guess in America we would of course not really understand.

I don't really think she thinks of herself in that manner at all,she knows who the real queen is and she seems loyal.

And what do you mean "so little political commentary," did you not see Al Gore there and that lady who won the Oscar for best song or whatever which I think totally should of went to Dreamgirls. All night they kept going on about being green and global warming.I don't about you but I am sick and tired of
Hollywood's political commentary they are always going on and on about something when I just want to be entertained not preached too.

P.S.I kind of think the royal family is what sets England apart from alot of countries and just makes it more interesting.

I agree and disagree with you.
I hated helen Mirren's speech, she truly believes she is the queen, ehn she said "Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the Queen", I was like "what???, who on Earth does she think she is??? Royalty filled her head or what???" Anyway, I've heard she reallt did a fine performance, but she wasnt my favorite..

And yes, Scorsese did a fine speech, I love when he speaks 'cause I laugh so much, he just speaks really fast...
and also Forrest withaker did a beautiful and moving speech, even Will smith and Leo dicaprio were about to burst out in tears (well I believe leo was about to cry because he had lost for the 3r time)

Now, the thing with the political commentary, are you serious??
What on earth did you want them to speak about??
The still unjustified war???, Bush's stupid strategies???
Haha, dont make me laugh, that is an entertaining show, to prize all those movie makers who make our worlds a little bit bearable, not to praise Bush and his wars!!!! People are already suffering too much to have to stand political issues also while watching Tv shows..

PS: I know she wasnt saying she was the queen, but even if she refers to the oscar, that oscar was hers, so evn in that way she's the queen!!! (in short: what a stupid speech!!!!)

Wow, that's disappointing. of direction she's incorrect. Sane men are fairly able to controlling their sexual urges. in the event that they could't they could desire to be in a psychological employer. i've got had a guy no longer been waiting to get it up by way of fact he's been too drunk in the previous. i became waiting for intercourse. could desire to I even have taken my frustration out on him? perchance shoved an merchandise or 2 up his anus (against his will)? a female (and a guy) has the finished maximum appropriate to say no at any element, even while they're unquestionably having intercourse. If the guy is hurting the female, could desire to he be allowed to proceed to reason her actual soreness for besides the incontrovertible fact that long he needs to? it appears that evidently we've some rapist sympathisers (and/or skill/unquestionably rapists) in our midst - yet then we knew that already. Now all of us know why there is in hassle-free terms a 5% or 6% conviction cost - and it has no longer something to do with fake accusations. factor - I thoroughly agree.

1. Helen Mirren was referring to the statuette as being the real "queen" not herself..that is why she raised it above her head.

2. Secondly things were kept light and upbeat...if you want to watch people talk about politics watch C-Span.

3. Scorcese & Iwo Jima
