Sure, some news can be very helpful, but isn't most of it just a frenzy of gossip that doesn't really affect our lives for the better? Why are we constantly drawn to know "the latest?"

Hearing news that is fact or gossip that feeds our curiosity makes us feel we are part of the world, the society, the neighborhood or our own family.
It sometimes makes us feel better about ourselves, depending upon what we are hearing or reading. It helps us in forming opinions and resolutions effecting our own lives.

Not all news are gossips. There will always be truth to the matter although the media try to magnify everything. We are always drawn to the latest news because we have to be inform of what's going on and by this, you know where you stand.

no some news are actually facts. the news that is more serious is usually based on facts. gossip is mostly entertainment news. sometimes the news we see on TV can be switched to make on think a certain way but that's an opinion not a rumor.

Third, apparently the BBC is the one media news conglomerate that produces just the facts, ma'am.
