This is not A Republican/Democrat problem. Spending has risen every year since WWII. If you're serious about cutting spending you need to start with the employees. If you notice all the auto companies, cutting employees is the first thing they do. The reason is obvious. That's where you can save the most, and do it quickly. We could cut 20% of the Federal government work force today. The next thing would be to consolidate departments. Get rid of those we don't need. The last thing would be to legislatively tie the hands of the congressman's pork spending. They have to become better stewards of our money. I would term limit them out if they refused to comply. They need to be held accountable.

I really believe that sunlight is the best disinfectent. I would love to have a database compiled of ALL the expenditures of the US gov. Who created the bill, how much the advocated provision costs, who voted for the bill (provision), and HOW that money is used. I think it's ghastly that we currently have billions of dollars unaccounted for in Iraq, and I would dearly love to know where every penny went and HOW it was spent. Think of what we could do with those billions if they had been spent on Education or Nasa /cries.
If we as citizens are expected annually to account for every CENT of our earnings and report it to the government, I don't see why the US government cannot afford us the same courtesy.

a complicated question and confusing to respond to in yahoo solutions. what's needed notwithstanding, is priority budgeting. the position do our priorities lie? that is the position particular interests become in touch and that is the position wasteful spending arises. i'd strengthen a "needed Spending" record by bi-partisan participation. wellbeing, preparation, nationwide protection etc... Secondly, i'd then study how each and each of theses habit employer and ask the confusing questions (those stands out as the common experience form questions no one ever asks) can we truly favor to spend $25.00 for a water can which will be offered on the community ironmongery save for $12.50? or regardless of it will be. a itemizing of particular interest initiatives would follow and lower back, i'd study how they habit employer or spend the money they ask for. If the authorities is funding "the humanities" at say 3 million and a couple of of those million money is going to pay the director of the initiatives wages, then we ought to ask why? i wager the base line is, there are quite some recommendations to get rid of wasteful spending. i imagine it in simple terms calls for a truthful favor to finish the job.

If I were a US politician, I would try to pass an amendment in favor of turning all military factories in the US to ones who produce materials for peaceful purposes.
