If I remember correctly, in addition to the accurate remarks already made, Jinnah espoused more "active" politics in challenging the British...he found violence less abhorrent and felt it was necessary in achieving self-rule.

I think Gandhi felt violence was necessary, too...but was much better at ensuring the violence was all committed against his people and not espoused by them! But he knew it would eventually cause a crumbling in his enemies' resolve.

Jinnah - belonged to Muslim League party
Gandhi - belonged to Congress party
Jinnah - wanted a separate Muslim state as he believed Muslims' interests would be threatened in a Hindu-majority nation
Gandhi - believed in India's capability to absorb various religious faiths; strongly against partition
