I will be 10 weeks pregnant this week and I am having so much trouble with smells. I don't know what I can do to help this. If I smell something, and it smells terrible to me I'm running to the bathroom to throw up. I really have not had any trouble with morning sickness except for nausea. So that is really the only thing that is making me sick. The worse smell I'm having a prob. with is my husband's German Shepard that stays in the house. He smells soooo bad to me. Even after he has had a bath. I told my husband I'd rather him be outside. He is a big dog. I think he should be anyway but I am soooo tired of being sick from smelling him. In fact I'm getting so sick of it I'm getting ready to tell him I'm going to stay at my mom's until he puts him outside. I don't know what to do.

Is there anything I can put under my nose that will keep me from being so sick from smells. Anyone that can help or give me so ideas of how to handle this I would appreciate it. Please help!

I had this same problem. I asked my mentor how she overcame the problem and she recommended carrying around vicks vaporub or somethign similar (unless this smell also makes you sick). It totally worked for me, I would put a little bit just under my nose or I'd carry it aroudn and just smell from the bottle. It helped immensely!

Good luck!

I had the same problem, but it was my boyfriends work clothes that smelled terrible. He was more understanding and tried to keep his clothes put away or washed for me. But your husband should compromise and try to make you more comfortable and put the dog outside. It may get better but I developed bad sinus problems and alot of mucus(gross!!) so now I can't smell at all. So check with a doctor if it doesn't improve within a few weeks or so and like the others suggested try carrying around a spritz that smells good to you. Good luck and Congrats!!!

For most people this sever nausea goes of after about 3 months so you won't have to put up with it for much longer. However there are an unfortunate few (I was one of them) that have sickness throughout the pregnancy. If you find that the sickness doesn't start to improve in the next few weeks consult your doctor for advice.

Congratulations, remember it will go in time (even if it's another 30 weeks) and it's worth it, it really is.

your being able to smell things before you see them may even stay after your pregnant. it may lessen up when your morning sickness lightens up. You can try having a good smelling spray around you. new car scent was great for me. it smelled fresh. My nurse `told me to smell alcohol swabs or something when i began to feel sick. that worke dfor a little while. You should spray around teh dog. or try to keep it outside in a garage ect.. I work with teh public and someone would come in smelling so bad of cigarrettes or something that I was going to get sick in front of them. It wa sbad. but it will still b etsrong for the next 4 to 8 weeks, but after it probably wont make you sick ,it will only be strong smelling.

Oh huni you cant. Be greatful that its real smells that are makeing you feel sick. I was convinced I could smell rotton chicken in the house ( like I know what rotton chicken smells like!!) and then it changed to me being obsessed with my cat smelling of onions..!!
It will pass, But for the time being sparay a hankie with some perfum and carry it around with you.

Smelling a lemon wedge will help the senses overcome strong odors and neutralize them. Hope this helps, my sense of smell is out of this world right now ( currently 11 weeks prego) and lemon helps tremendously.

You could wear a nose plug!! LOL Just kidding. If you want to try sucking on a peppermint it kinda helps. The mint is so strong it overbears whatever else you can smell and it also helps calm nausuea.

unfortunately this is just part of being pregnant. I had the same problem when i first got pregnant. it will blow over though. most people only experience nausea during their first trimester. I agree that ur husband is being unreasonable. surely you're more important than his dog!!
