right now I'm paying for my wedding and trying to cut down on expenses. I have acrylic nails and can't afford the up keep. How can i get rid of them, grow them out, cut them off? can I use nails polish remover to melt them or something? I'm clueless here. Please let me know if you have suggestions or know what to do. Thanks all :)

It takes ages, sit with your hands in acetone. You have to soak them for at least an hour.

the best way to get rid of the acrylics is to go to a salon
and let them do it. The will either pry them off your natural
nails, which hurts, or soak your nails in acetone and after
about 1/2 hour, the salon person will take them off so it
should not hurt much. Your natural nails will be very
fragile so I went to Sally Beauty supply and the person there
recommended 2 products to use to strengthen my nails.

To get your nails off you can go to the nail salon and have them take them off depending on where you go this is less than $15, the cheap and very long way to get them off is to buy aceton nail polish remover and soak your nails, but this takes forever, you can do that if you have the patience. Never clip the acrylic nails and pull them off because its kind of painful and your nails will be very ugly underneath

Acetone nail polish remover....soak them and use an orange wood stich and a nail clipper to remove them. use a file to also make the acrylic a little thinner and easier to take off.
There is no "Salon Quality" polish remover no matter what they tell you... its all the same.

It is best to spend a little more money and go to a salon to have them removed. They will soak your hands in salon quality remover and gently scrape the remaining off. (it will be soft and pliable and easy to remove after 45 mins to and hour)
Then please get a good manicure to smooth the surface of your nails so that you will not have hang nails and so on. You will not regret spending the money to have this done and over with. :)
Good luck. :)

nicely, as quickly as I had acrylic nails on for homecoming, a pair of month later, they'll a approach or the different get a splash loose yet whilst it doesnt, for me, i attempt to bend them so the nail by using the cuticle area opens a splash and run it under heat water by means of fact suitable whilst water gets below those babies, they'll start up falling off like loopy. merely what I did... reliable good fortune with yours!

Well, first of all, you don't have to go to the salon. lol. All you have to do is soak them in fingernail polish remover one at a time. When you start to see them disolve, start by putting a fingernail under the one you are soaking and peal it off. Hope this helps you.

You are such a baby! Go to the nail salon. Obviously, they would know how to do it and would do a better job than you doing it yourself.
