Best to go to the woods with another purpose in mind, whether it is mushroom picking, meditating, playing music, or painting nature scenes. Then keep your eyes open and your ears attuned. Guns and other visible weapons are anathema.

I know of a police tracker, who tracks down missing hikers and such, whose examined scores of Bigfoot tracks. He says, at least to date, they have all been phony.
I'd like to believe in the big hairy guy too, but evidence suggests he really doesn't exist.
