When the show was on, there were a lot of newsgroups devoted to it (back when those things were really active), like alt.tv.twinpeaks and such. Nowadays I don't think you'll find much, but there is a group that runs Twin Peaks conventions in Snoqualmie, WA, every year.

The show itself was cancelled after the second season, and by then there were so many bizarro things happening that most people had stopped watching. It was truly innovative television, but it was over most people's heads. The finale left a lot of questions unanswered, and the movie, which is a prequel, only resolves a few issues (if you can follow it closely enough to pick up on those answers!). The movie follows the last week of Laura Palmer's life.

If you can get your hands on them, there are a lot of books and even a cassette tape of Cooper's messages to Diane that were available when the show was on, and some of them offer insights into the show. The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer is the best, written by Jennifer Lynch. Others include a Welcome to Twin Peaks "travel guide" and The Autobiography of Special Agent Dale Cooper. There were also some more academic books published that discussed the philosophy and metaphysics of the series.

there is a yahoo group: http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/twinpeaks/

but it doesn't appear to be active

however; if you join www.imdb.com the twin peaks message board is. both the movie and tv show.
I also started watching TP for the first time. I've watched clips of the movie and it seems spooky. I haven't seen it yet though. And, oh yes I love coop also.

I just found twinpeaks.org. It's not discussion, but it answers alot of questions.
