Ah ,the Oscars! Every year I look forward , with great anticipation, to seeing all the beautiful people at their best and sometimes their worst , celebrate the grandest event of the year, the Oscars! Although I miss the glory days of Hollywood, this is as close to that as we'll ever get! This year was no different. I sat down with my big bowl of"baked" tortilla chips and disgustingly fattening dip and settled in for the show!
Is it me, or does Leonardo dicaprio get better looking every year? Sure, Forest Whitaker totally deserved the Oscar, but I was rooting for the gorgeous and very talented Leonardo! And he took defeat so gallantly, flashing that killer smile for all the world to see. I swear his smile goes straight to my heart every time!
Again, is it me, or do the actresses get thinner and thinner every year? Not for nothing, but if Nicole kidman gets any smaller she'll disappear! She looked like a Barbie Doll on crack! And speaking of fashions, what was Anne Hathaway doing dressed up as a penguin and why ON EARTH couldn't someone as RICH AND FAMOUS as Jodie Foster find a dress that didn't look like she had recycled the living room curtains! Oh Jodie, if you only knew how hideous that dress is!
And now moving from the fashion arena into the entertainment area, Is it just me or was that Beyonce/ Hudson collaboration the performance of a lifetime? Now THAT'S entertainment!! Hard to imagine how the hughly talented ms. Hudson was thrown off American Idol! Hmmmmm!
The highlight of the show, though, was when Vice President Al Gore made his "acceptance" speech. A hush fell over the crowd, it seemed, as he delivered his heartfelt message to the world, that we need to solve the climate crisis now! That and the "greening" of the Oscars were my two favorite parts!

Joan Rivers seems drunk as a skunk; now THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! "IF YOU ONLY KNEW HOW HIDEOUS THAT DRESS IS," she said, and then the network cut back to Melissa; SHE LOOKS LIKE A BARBIE DOLL--particularly when compared to her loud-mouth mom.
I MISS THE GLORY DAYS OF HOLLYWOOD, with actors like Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Bogie, et al..when these men came forward, A HUSH FELL OVER THE CROWD. When Frank Sinatra appeared, he only looked at me, and HIS SMILE WENT STRAIGHT TO MY HEART.
