Should the UK have a single written document, similar to the USA, outlining all our rights and freedoms, or, should the UK stick to an uncodified constitution, whereby our rights and freedoms are taken from many different sources and social conventions?

keep it as it is, if it aint broke dont fix it. Constitutions are for countries that have lost a war and need to be told how to run their country.

The way it is now allows us to be flexible and react to ever changing situations. i.e situation in the US with not being allowed to ban guns because at the time of writing the constitution they were an important part of life. Now they are just plain dangerous, but they cant mess with the constitution.

It's unlikely it could be achieved now even if we wanted to. EU Directives are turned into UK Statutory Instruments as part of EU legislation. If we tried to make a single document Constitution now we would be at odds with Brussels every time an EU Directive was made available for mandatory implementation where it was at odds with the UK Constitutional documentation.

I actually like the way things are here. It's fine the way it is and shouldn't change. Anyway when does the constitution become out of date? We probably think alot differently now than how they did when the American constitution was written.

Depends if you are a royalist or republican, i don't think it matters too much where the rules come from as much as do we all agree with the ideas.

For a single constitution document you would have to dissolve the monarchy as we are like it or not a monarchistic society not a true democracy.

It's fine as it is. If we get a Constitution, people will start changing it. Far better that our freedom is taken as a matter of course than as a special privelege.

it could't be written down in one checklist, even though it nonetheless exists. Even the yankee shape is sponsored up by utilising an entire library of explanatory/helping case regulation, a number of it drawn from 'magna carta'. in actuality, the unique shape became into drafted by utilising the early English settlers. leave nicely on my own, because of the fact each and all of the 'lefties' are searching for is to redraw it in accordance to their very own prejudices/ideology.

No it is far better to have a flexible system as we have now so that sometimes when common sense and neccesity require it things can be changed accordingly.
