I know I can use an iron to get wrinkles out of clothes or to put pleats in pants but I can't seem to iron effectively. I'll pass the iron over the wrinkles and they won't go away. Can someone give me a definitive way on how to do this, step by step?

Also can you iron without an ironing board?

Set your iron for the type of fabric you have. Most of the newer irons have a chart right by the dial telling you what fabrics need what temperature. Also consider using a steam iron and yes of course you can iron w/o an ironing board. Just use a hard surface with a towel, I would recommend getting a tabletop ironing board though.

1. Never iron without an ironing board.
2. Different clothes need different temperature, cotton the highest, silk and wool the lowest.
3. If the tissue is very wrinkled you can wet it a little and pas over the hot iron.

No you shouldn't iron on anything other than an ironing board. Use a spray bottle and lightly spray the article of clothing and iron as usual. Try spray starch as well. Same way, spray lightly over clothing and iron as usual, gives the article of clothing a little "body". Good luck.

Use a spray bottle with water to spritz your clothing before applying the iron.
If you do not have an ironing board use a towel on a hard surface.

you can put starch on the clothing, but make sure it's light starch. you dont want it coming out like the ironing board. and also when you iron, make sure the setting on the iron is set to the fabric that your clothes are made out of.

Of course, you can iron with out an ironing board, any hard flat surface is good. You can also iron on your bed.
