I do, but why do we do that, is it incase a burgler might break in and think jeez this is a pig sty if ever I saw one or are we just daft.

When my kids were little they had the clothes stripped off of them and they had to wear their dressing gowns from 6 pm onwards the night before we went away. Sheer madness, but my reason was that I could not stand seeing dirty washing or an untidy house when I came back off of holiday.

These days I could not care less...though I say that now but just wait until I'm due to go on holiday again....even the spiders better hide from me or else it's into the washing machine they will go.

Insanity runs in the family; my kids do the same as I did now they are all married.

Your reason has more logic than mine as if you had been burgled you would not know if you house was like a pig sty before you went away y and it might take you a few days before you realised that your house had be broken into.

Lol - Yes I always give my house a good clean and tidy before going on holiday. I do it though to have a lovely clean house to come back to. When you get back off holiday, before you go back to the trudgery of work, all you want to do is unpack your suitcase, put some washing on and chill out. I dont really want to come back to an untidy house that I have to spend the rest of my holiday cleaning!

Leaving on Wednesday and busy cleaning the house. Want it spotless just to make me feel better. BUT, hubby and two dogs at home , i just know what he is going to do, he is going to leave the house a mess until the day before i get home, then quickly vacuum, do the dishes etc. But i will know because i am sharp. But the vase of flowers will make it all allright again.

I NEVER give the house a really good clean, EVER ! As for holidays, I leave it looking like a dump in the hopes that a couple of gay men will break in and clean the place up a bit, redesign all the furniture and fittings and wash and rehang all the curtains!
Oh well, I can dream ! ! !

I like to vacation, but I am always excited to come back home. So I guess I clean before I go so i'm more excited to come home - to my clean house. Then you can just relax and get back into the swing of things without having to be stressed about getting something cleaned.

I do the exact same thing!!! I even tidy round before i leave for work / go shopping / take kids to school / pop next door. Not massive clean but tidy round lol.
Think it may be because we know we'll be tired when we get home so wont want to do anyhting.

Or maybe its nice to come home and even nicer when it's clean and tidy ready for normal life to resume!!

Yeah i do, partly because i like coming home to a nice clean house and also because my neighbour comes in every day to move the post and check everything is ok and i dont want her to think the house is dirty or messy.

Yes - I can't bear the thought of coming back from somewhere all chilled out and relaxed to be faced with a messy house.

I love cleaning house. I try to have as little as possible to do when I get back from vacation. I always have laundry to do along with taking my dry cleaning to the the dry cleaners.
