do you think he made his movie just to get an oscar and get elected for president? he blows this whole global warming thing out of proportion by making a movie that superficially seems to tell the truth. he shows some graphs without base, because he knows that people dont like to think critically, its easier to believe something if it sounds logical the first time. so he gets an oscar and the libs look at him like a messiah. theres talk of him running for pres, and the libs, eating out of his hand, wont think hesitate to vote for him. is it right to trust someone with a jesus-complex?

Albert Gore has been giving that same presentation for years. The idea that he did it "just to get an oscar" is a bit of a reach, I think.

I also doubt that he will run for president, although admittedly it is still possible. At the Oscars ceremony, he made a joke about the possibility and didn't seem to take it at all seriously. But again, that doesn't preclude the possibility.

As for "blow[ing] ... global warming ... out of proportion", there is ample evidence that global warming is very real and happening now. In addition, virtually the entire scientific community is in consensus on the issue and has been for several years (long before Al Gore 's documentary).

The only issue in dispute seems to be whether or not human actions are responsible. Recently, there has been a resolution passed that has elevated the level of certainty as to the issue of human actions, but the phoenomenon of global warming has not been in dispute for quite some time.

I would be less worried about the possibility of a Gore presidential campaign and more worried about the future of the planet that we are leaving to our children.

I am not a democrat, nor am I a Gore fan. But I do applaud the man for commiting himself to a cause. And being so successful at it. All politicians at his level go on the 'speaking' tour for money at the end of their 'reign'...so I could hardly call him a fraud for doing so. But at least he has focussed his appearances and efforts on a cause with worldwide implications. And frankly...look at how successful he has become! How could you deny that?

Only in America could a Global issue somehow get turned into an American political debate. Is everyone that self centred that they actually believe that Global Warming is an American political ruse? Is the rest of the world that stupid that they have bought into it? C'mon people...smarten up! There is a world outside the borders of the US!

Doesn't it strike anyone as strange that the folks who buy into Mr Gores apocolyptic forecast of 'what may one day be' by saying 'we should do everything he says because better safe than sorry'...are exactly the same people who object to just about anything Bush wants to do to save the country from ACTUAL destruction from terrorists?
Al Gore has every right to tell us how afraid for the planet he is...he does not have the right to shut down any voices who disagree with him - he and his followers say that HE has the definitive answer and anyone who says otherwise 'hates the planet'. Huh???
Can anyone show me a single action taken by Mr Gore when he was the second most powerful man on the planet to act on this 'urgent crisis'.
Or - as it would seem - is the crisis only 'urgent' when Republicans are in charge?

I don't think that Al Gore needs a movie to alert us that we have abused the planet's goodness. This whole global warming thing (as you call it) is upon you if only you take time to look at the accelerating disasters that are taking place. I believe that the movie was too mild in its message. I would like you at the next disasters, to go and put forward your theory to all the victims, they'll feel I am sure relieved to hear you play down reality.

he's been giving that slide show presentation for like 15 years now. and how would that get him elected president? the majority of america already voted for him once and that didn't work...course, most of you need the tv to tell you what to do and think, so he's just following suit. and i would rather be safe than sorry. educate yourself on what's going on in the world around you, we live like gluttonous pigs. a little self-restraint and discipline never hurt anyone. we can't continue like this and expect it to last forever. i personally care about the world my children will have to live in.

ps. i don't look down on him for taking a jet, when you compute the emissions for a car and plane, planes are dirtier but are actually cleaner over many hundreds of miles, so it may actually be more sustainable for now.

*edit for those citing terrorism* we cannot protect ourselves from every single instance of a possible attack. everyone will tell you that, even mr. bush. we can, however, make sure we are able to respond in the event of a disaster and make the idea of attacking us even less appealing to these groups. meanwhile, you need to realize that this is a NOT a political issue -- it is one of morality, it is for humanity, and indeed the entire planet...if we cannot inhabit the earth, then terrorism is definitely not a problem. is that your motto?

You have the audacity to question Al Gore? Can't you just believe what you're told? It's actualy quite easy to argue a case for man-made global warming. All you have to do is say Bush is a moron and you're an idiot and that pretty much clears it all up. That's what they taught me in science class, anyway.

Gore is an utter fraud. His wild unproven thoeries and speculations are laughable. You have to love the mid U.N. Climate report that they released about 3 weeks back. Their "estimate" of sea level rise started at 36 inches. They lowered that to 17 inches in the mid progress report. Gore has publically proclaimed the earth will be a ball of fire in 9 years and the sea level will rise more than 20 FEET. Of course, what can you expect from a guy who invented the internet? It would be Laughable if so many people didn't believe this H.S.

I don't think hes fake. He does however seem to exaggerate certain truths in his documentary. That said, its not like hes pushing a bad cause. This is our planet. Woudln't you rather be safe than sorry. Reducing pollution, living sustainably and other "green" avenues are a good idea that we should all strive for.

p.s how do you figure he has a jesus complex?

Now that he has been made "legitimate" by HOLLYWOOD, there are those who will be falling at his feet.
Someone made a point on here about better to be safe than sorry, but would that person make the same argument when it comes to fighting terrorism I wonder? Or would they just bash Bush?

He will not run again and if making a movie gets you elected president, why aren't more politicians doing this?
