Windows Vista: Why would anyone pay big bucks for this product?

Especially considering there are great alternatives with open source software.

because they think they are getting the best of the worst operating system when they can get better for free......

i would not i just bought a new laptop from dell and had the option for a upgrade to vista for only 10 dollars but i wont switch from xp vista has too many problems

Vista is like PS3 atm
