Both factors need to be positive...
x-5>0 and x+5>0 → x>-5 and x>5 → x>5

OR both must be negative...
x-5<0 and x+5<0 → x<-5 and x<5 → x<-5 → -x>5

So either x or (-x) is greater then 5, so |x|>5.
