I am just wondering... Sometimes I dont like showing affection in public because it has turned out a fashion thing, the in thing.

i dont believe its a fasion statement. Certain people do "pretend" to be gay or lesbian for attention which pisses me off so much but kissing ur gf or bf in public isnt about being fashionable, its about being able to show affection in public just like straight people do. Being able to kiss in public speaks to the progress we've made and it is a sign of pride in who you are. At the end of the day there will be posers who do it for "fun" but who cares. Be who you are. Dont be deterred b/c of some stupid kids.

Had you said this of pseudo-bisexual women (ostentation for the purpose of titillating their men-folk) I would agree with you.

Not being big on PDAs (a kiss, a hug but not a lingual tonsilectomy) I can agree with your not liking to show affection in public - however if your reasons are just out of not pandering to fashion, I wonder about you. I truly do.

There are people who see homosexuality as the trendy thing to do. The fad will fade. Hopefully sooner than later. If you enjoy PDA... be yourself. I personally love private and public displays of affection... I'm an affectionate person and I cant help but be me. Good Luck Sweetie.

Don't mistake new freedoms and acceptance as a fashion thing.

These were hard fought freedoms that some had to die for us to get. The idea of dismissing this acceptabce as a growing fashion statement is a bit dismaying.

I wonder which part of South Africa oracle is from because this is one of the countries where you would say its a statement rather than who you are.

I grew up there and at the clubs it was fake person after fake that i stayed single for two years.

It can be so annoying how everyone has to be a follower rather than a leader.

Whenever I occasionally meet up with friends in a different area, we always hug and kiss. This is not done to impress or repulse other people, we are not shallow, attention seeking people - just friends who are happy to see and greet people we are fond of.
The ability to be able to greet people of the same sex has been a slow and difficult process (in Britain, it is still possible for 2 men to be charged with a breach of the peace!). I always keep in mind the generations for whom public displays of affection would have been impossible: as Oscar Wilde described : victims of a "love that dare not speak its name".

It's disgusting in public..this is what causes anti-homosexual feeling amongst the straight community. Most are able to tolerate homosexuals as long as they keep their depraved acts to their private homes. All the homosexuals I know (I don't know any lesbians) are decent likeable people who don't flaunt their sexuality. If all of them were like that there would not be half as much homophobia.
We all know there are people who are into bestiality..but how would you feel if you saw one 'fiddling' with his dog in public??
This is what straight people feel about overt displays of homosexuality.
As Raymo said ..here in Britain it is considered a breach of the peace..long may it last..so you could fall foul of the law too.
Keep it private PLEASE...help us keep our dinners down.

Maybe where you are but not so much in South Africa. Gay marriage is legal, but it still is not too safe too show affection in public. Put it this way, it is done at your own risk.

if that's how you feel, then that's how you feel. some people think it's ok, while other's think tacky and false. if you're an outsider looking in you could see two people hugging and think "get a room", but the reality of it could be that they have just met 30 yrs after they were adopted out to different families. it's just perspective !

Hello.

Apparently, homosexual behaviourism has been around for many years. Ancient artifacts depict women in sexual positions with other women, & sometimes men are part of orgies with other men too!

Although women are more prone to show affection to their women friends than are men. I see no harm in this, & in fact I think it is nice.

Regards,
Vinay
