If you are working for a company they should put a block on most of the net. People do not need to have access to most things while working.
Some companies do moniter what you do with the computer and people do get fired for messing around and not working.
I guess as long as you can get away with it the why not.

Of course, I'm an addict. Couldn't live without it anymore...
Since I have absolutely nothing to do at work (compulsory community service - 9 months) I surf the net all day long. Often 6-10hrs a day. It gets quite depressing, but hey, time rushes!

It can be.
But mostly work is pretty quiet and not to much to do, so I can surf random sites without feeling guilty about it in any way.
I try to do more productive work though, like finishing some school work whenever work tasks are slow.

Definitely, I know people who have lost their jobs because of too much internet surfing.
I used to be afflicted by the addiction to net surfing and my work was very poor - long delays, missing deadlines, lots of mistakes.
I managed to pull myself away from it and as soon as I did I started doing a lot better at work and am getting promoted and payrises etc.
Resist the temptation!

I'm exactly the same, i can't help but come on here and check my emails every 30 seconds.
If my boss knew, I'd be on the dole by the end of the week, just as well he's a muppet and has no clue.

I was just going to say "Only if you're at work" and then I find you are. Why don't you just do your work instead of stealing your employers time and electricity so that you can play on the net.

The Internet was funded and probably still is being funded by PORN. Now that is very distracting.
Weapons of mass distraction.
