He must not have been too active with the democratic party like Al Gore and Dixie Chicks.

Alan Arkin has never won an Oscar either. He has been nominated but never won. He probably won't have another chance either.
I didn't think about Eddie Murphy not getting another chance. I had hoped he would win but was not surprised that Arkin did.
I think (or at least hope) that Eddie Murphy will get another chance. Hopefully some day they will add Comedy categories like the Golden Globes

Even though the Oscars are supposed to be for a specific movie, they still reflect on an actor's body of work. Eddie Murphy had one decent performance in a career of comedy fluff and out and out crap. The fact that "Norbit" came out when the voters were still considering couldn't have helped. In order for Eddie Murphy to win an Oscar, he's going to have to prove that "Dreamgirls" wasn't a fluke and that he's actually grown as an actor. Personally, I don't see it happening.

I would say that he was 'robbed'. He really had a stand-out performance in that movie. On Friday as I listened to the pundits make their predictions of who would win, it became clear that it would not be Eddie. The consensus was that he is not popular with the Hollywood types. Oh well, again I say that living well is the best revenge.

There will always be other movies, and hopefully other performances that will garner the Academy's attention....
Maybe that next role will be something that showcases Murphy's talent in a way which we haven't seen before.

It never surprised, though.
I'd do predict him to win (Arkin) though I saw Wahlberg's and Hounsou's performances.
I can't endure Murphy's performance, I swear!
