My common map turtle was feeding on its aquatic turtle food, as it usually does, when I saw this black thing hanging from inside its opening in its tail. It might be his penis but I'm not sure. Does this sound bad for it, maybe even life-threatening? If you have any links or contact numbers that I could use, that would be great!

Without seeing the turtle, all I can say is that this might well be a penile prolapse. If you go to this website, they give medical info on both penile and intestinal prolapses (about 1/2 way down the page), treatment info, and a link to listings of turtle/reptile vets by state on the home page: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medinjuries.htm

Hope this helps!

there is no such subject as a reptile expert. there may well be individuals who've an expertise in a definite species of reptile yet reptiles extra often than not is a incredibly huge class. this is very like saying somebody who has geared up properties is a shape expert. there is no such subject as a shape expert. There professionals specifically fields yet not on the project as an entire. returned to huge of a field. yet another occasion would be to assert a doctor is an authority in wellbeing care. If that replace into the case we does not prefer professionals. professionals are professionals interior their field. i think of what you're bearing on is classified ads that say for stepped forward keepers. some species are extra good to maintain than others for one in each and every of those motives and could require a sophisticated means set. An intense occasion would be somebody who has stored a corn snake for 2 years in all probability shouldn't bounce to a black mamba as their next captive. those snakes require 2 thoroughly distinctive means gadgets to maintain. in case you have stored lizards that require a similar husbandry ordinary to frilled dragons and you have researched frilled dragons drastically then you definately are in all probability waiting to handle that project.
