It's the fashion Super Bowl. And I personally looove deconstructing the looks (who looked good and who looked like hell). Also, it gives me inspiration for formal events, especially when it comes to hair and makeup! :)
Finally, it's a chance to bask in pure,self-indulgent superficiality.

The Oscars are not about artistry in film but are basically just a dress-up night for the stars. I never take the Academy Awards seriously. The people who vote don't even see half the movies but they see all the dresses.
