42. It should be common knowledge by now :-D
Seriously, I've given a lot of thought to this question. Here's a little something I wrote that contains my personal answer:
A young Datchí once climbed the mountain Gor to seek master Thalor. He didn’t find him at home, but in a nearby village, taking care of a sick man. The sage did not pause, but he did ask the young one what he wanted. The apprentice said this: “Master, I have come with great difficulty all the way from the land of Nag’gr. I have a question only the wisest man could answer.” The elder laughed. “And you picked me?” “I’ve been to a dozen monasteries, and all the other masters told me to seek you.” “Is that so? Ask, then.” “Pray, master, what is the purpose of life?”
Thalor eyed him carefully before answering: “Life, my dear, is a debt, a debt to the Universe.” The young man was amazed: “But... what could we possibly owe the Universe?” The old master sighed “Deeds. What else? The greatest harm you can do is to sit idly when things around you cry for a change. Now, would you please pass me that water pot from the stove?”

Some thoughts..
1. No inherent meaning, it is situational and relative. Numerous products are on the market (god, family, wealth, discovery etc), pick one or more or you can make up your own.
2. I think Kant would have considered the question an inappropriate use of ones rational capabilities. In this case applying the idea of meaning/purpose to something it is not there to be applied to (life). Or, like applying the ideas of size and cause to the universe itself, rather than more mundane 'real life' objects (cutlery, potted plants etc.)
3. Never mind Kant. If you apply the idea of purpose as revealed by behaviour to life itself (not an individual life but all of it) then it behaves as if it's purpose is to expand into all possible spaces growing more complex and organised as it does so. On one level it resists change on another (longer term) it uses change to develop and advance.

Philip, it is very simple. The Meaning of Life is to serve God, to know Him in this life, and be with Him in the next. The meaning of life is to live in the Present, and find the beauty of Nature, A lovely lyric of a song, a Sunset, helping a friend or neighbor, or helping those who we do NOT know, doing good deeds, finding our own worth in life, that worth is that we are children of the Heavenly Father, who made us, and Who alone can show us the meaning of life. If you have never prayed, God will listen. Open your heart and give Him everything, Thank Him, and He will show you the Meaning of this Life.

All of us in one moment of our life think like you are doing now. I'm not a philosopher or somethin like that, I'm almost 50 years old.: the meaning of life is to live like GOD commands but the majority of us don't follow his rules,If you replenish yourself with wisdom, learnin from books, from people good or bad,if you give love to your familiy or friends,if you give to your community,if you can feel the ocean breeze or feel the hot of the desert you can give an answer that cover your question if not at all you are going to live your life with more calm. there are a lot a good people around us.

Our purpose here in life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Here are a couple of verses which tell us of our purpose: The first is 1 Corinthians 10: 31: "Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." The second is Psalm 73:25-26: "Whom have I in heaven but thee? There is none upon the earth that I desire beside thee. (26) My flesh and heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." Throughout the Bible there are verses which declare that our chief end in this world is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.
I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.
You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.
The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us.
