It's not a particular smell, it's an inappropriate one. Strawberries when there are none in the house; a particular perfume that no-one is wearing. This is one sign of problems. Others include inability to answer a question, weakness on one side of the body, inability to raise your hand on command, general confusion about time/place. See the link for more warning signs and early treatment options.

It's VERY important to get to an ER as soon as possible, even if the symptoms wear off; this could be a TIA, or transient ischemic attack - a mini-stroke caused by a blood clot. While the clot may move on and the symptoms appear to go away, there is a very high risk of massive stroke or severe brain damage. NEVER ignore these symptoms; always go the ER and insist on a stroke evaluation.

WOW! ! I guess I'm not the only one. I see replies from 9 years ago. I found this because I was looking for an explanation of why I smell something very similar to cooking bacon or smoked bacon for several weeks now.

There is most often no smell, however the smell you refer to is called an aura....it is not one particular smell. It can be anything. Sometimes people who have epilepsy have this and it warns them they are about to have an attack.

Smell is as if something is burning or very overheated. Some have said it smells like burned bacon or burned grease.
