The only way to do it is put yourself in different surroundings, and try to work in those. Library is one idea. I used to (in the spring summer months at uni) go to the park, with a notepad and write notes there. Taking fags with me of course! You'll find you smoke less, than you would stuck inside with nothign to do. You're right it is just boredom. I quit yesterday, so expect me back on tonight, ranting and raving about pointless stuff ;)

Here's one very good reason why you should stop smoking, esp. as you're studying. One of the side effects of tobacco, apart from the addiction, is that it causes the connections in the brain to dysfunction. This means that in time it becomes more difficult to maintain, for the want of a better word "joined up thinking." This will mean you will less able to pull back thoughts from your mind which your brain has stored their. It gets much worse the older you are. Now where did I put my cigarettes?

That's a tough one as I used to be exactly the same. The only thing you can try is to substitute smoking and eating with something more healthier. Stick up on fruit and nuts and reach for these when you get the craving. Drink more water as well which will keep you hydrated and combat feelings of fatigue.
Good luck!

Buy 2 packets of 20 fags then hand all your money over (to someone likely to give it back) so you can't buy anymore cigarettes. If you know you can't buy anymore then you are prob more likely to make them last!!
To remove the food cravings try working out of doors, go study in the park or on the beach.
