What do you think was the biggest upset winner at the academy awards last night? There are a few I can think of and one that stands out in my mind. What do you think was the most shocking?

Many people will say Eddie Murphy losing, but I think it was "The Lives of Others" winning Best Foreign Language film. I think most people, including myself, thought Pan's Labyrinth would run away with that. I mean Pan's Labyrinth won Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Cinematography plus was nominated for Origional Screenplay and Origional Score. All those things are what makes a movie what they are, especially cinematography and screenplay. I never would have thought with all it's award wins and nominations that it would lost the Best Foreign Language Film awards......shocking!

The only shock to me was The Lives of Others win, I thought for sure it would be Pan's Labyrinth. I thought Pan's was worthy of best picture let alone best Foreign film. I didn't see The Lives of Others yet so it could be worthy, I don't know. It must have been a great year for foreign film because I saw Water and thought it was excellent also.

I was disappointed that none of the Dream Girls songs won. They were all more worthy than the Melissa Ethridge song. I think the three songs split the votes. They should only allow one song per movie just like the actors categories.

I was also surprised (but glad) that Departed won best picture. All of the critics were saying it would be Babel. I'm glad it was Departed because it was a much better film all around.

Well I know "Pan's Labyrinth" not winning Best Foreign Film is a big shock to a lot of people but for me it was Eddie Murphy not winning. I know that most people don't think that he's a really nice person but I think he should have won for the role. He put the same energy into the role that he normally does but it was so beyond anything that he usually does that I don't know if this opportunity will come around for him again. I would have rather seen him win than Jennifer Hudson.

I was upset that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest didn't win the Achievement in sound mixing and in sound editing. Also not for POTC not winning the Achievement in art direction.

Also I was disappointed that Leonardo DiCaprio didn't win the oscar for Performance by an actor in a leading role. He did an excellent job in Blood Diamond! One of his best movies ever.

Pan's labyrinth should have won best foreign film definately, but the oscars being the oscars, someone had to be on top so they blaanced it and only gave the film 3 oscars isntead of 4 which would have made it tie with Departe. I dont even watch that crap, it doesnt really counts....

well I guess if I had to pick one, I'd say The Lives of Others beating Pan's Labyrinth in the best foreign language category.

but what I was the most upset with is how utterly predictable all of the acting categories were...made for a boring ceremony

it's a total bump! Al gore is obviously declaring a political demonstration and the only award that I agree with is the winning of the departed as best picture.
