she is 15, and actually, she was willing to do these chores, because she is poor and wants some more money to spend on clothes

Maid service starts at about $7.50 an hour.
Sounds like you want her to do more than just help around the house. What are you doing while she does all this home maintenance?
Set down with her and say lets draw up a contract..... Then you set the goals to be met and what rewards or payments are to be received from you to her and reverse that.
I mean if your thinking contact labor then do a contact.

I hope you remember she is your child. You failed to note her age so I am assuming she is under legal age and not a dead beat adult child living off of her parents. In which case my answer would have been different.

Have a great day!

Sounds like you have a maid not a daughter. Last line just help around the house sounds like she does everything. How about some fun for her. Its great to give your child responsibilities. But don't suffocate her. Make her bed keep room clean do dishes pick up after herself. And if you pick up after yourself than house should always look great. depending on her age. An allowance between 5-10 a week. BUT don't make her do everything. hire a maid if you cant do anything yourself.

Like I tell my son, I don't get paid to do chores, so he doesn't get paid to do chores. But it seems like you are putting everything on her short of cooking meals. That's a bit much, My son and I split the chores. If you want her to do all that then she should get a maids salary which is about $70.

*****************

A better way for her to earn money is to go out and get a job. I was working at 11 to pay for things that I wanted. It's good for the kids to work and earn money.

pay her?
no way... i grew up having to do those things because my mom knew i would have to clean my own house one day. who else is going to do those things for her unless she hires help, which she wouldnt need if she knew how to do all those things, then she'd save money... that knowledge from her parent is enough payment. so she doesnt become a lazy, dirty woman when she grows up... She should appreciate the fact that she's getting something worthwhile whilst she's still young. by 13 i did most of those things and i didnt even use a vaccum, i helped my mom with the cooking once she got off of work (an 8am to 6pm job). i knocked off at school at 2:30pm came home around 3.30pm, did my chores, watched telly, then did my homework if i had any. on weekends i did all my chores before heading out to play and socialize with my friends. most women nowadays cant even boil water and husbands are subjected to paying extra for hiring help... and "some" helpers steal stuff from the house. i never expected my mom to come back from a hard day at work (she works saturdays as well), and roll up her sleeves to start more hours at home. some youngsters get involved in adult activity at a very young age, drinking, smoking and having sex by age 13 at the most, so why cant they do anther adult thing by making sure home is clean and spiffy? i mean she gets a meal at the end of the day, an education, roof to live under and security... buying her clothes should be reward enough and for other things she should just be thankful... thats my view and i'm sticking to it.

Doing all of that. I'd say $50 a month is adequate. What do you do around the house?

When does she have time to expand on herself though? You're making a little housewife. Don't you want her to have more than that. Give her a few good books, teach her about nature. If anything, have a couple more kids to help her out. And houseplants should be watered every day.

$10 - $15. Plus $2 extra every time she helps out around the house. That's a LOT of chores!

how old is your daughter, and why the f**k are you making her do all this work - this is YOUR job lady - dont make your kid do it.

additional info added - with reference to the age of your child, 15 is very young to be doing all of this work - what about her school work? Isnt it more important for her to do well at school? where will she get the time to do all of this? You seem quite happy to sit back and let her do what you should be doing. I think your daughter should go and get a paper round or something else - not skivvy around after you. What exactly are you going to be doing while she is doing all of the housework?????

1. YOU ARE THE PARENT. SHE IS THE CHILD.

2. STOP ABUSING HER. SHE IS NOT YOUR SLAVE!

3. YOU TAKE CARE OF HER...NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

4. AND WHY DON'T YOU GET OFF YOUR LAZY *** AND DO THE WORK INSTEAD OF FORCING IT ON YOUR DAUGHTER!

5. AND IF SHE DOES WANT TO DO IT......IT BETTER BE HIGHER THAN $1000 DOLLARS A MONTH....BECAUSE THAT IS A LOT OF DIRTY WORK!
