I am planning writing a novel about my adventures and my life on the web. This includes penpals, my experiences on forums and newsgroups, people I've met there and my thoughts on them... the debates on psychoanalysis I have started or/ and participated in...
What do you think? Is this a good idea? Would you like reading such a novel?

technically, you aren't supposed to use information you gather by observing without the subjects' direct permission. in social behavior sciences doing so is considered unethical. just to warn you. we actually just talked about that in my anthropology class.

in answer to your question, i don't think it's a good idea, and i wouldn't read it. it doesn't sound all that interesting, or as if you could fill that many pages with things you've found on the net. plus i think you'd have a hard time publishing it. i think an interactive website would be a better idea, from whoever suggested that.

It depends on how it is written, it seems to me that such a novel would be a good oppertunity to present ideas and imaginative concepts and also be a chance to try out some inventive writing styles. If it was presented in this way it could make an interesting novel.

Focus on this: What has been the consequence of this time spent online? Change the facts if you have to but make it something interesting. Did you meet someone online and conceive a kid with them? Did somebody get murdered? That sort of thing.
