Firstly to the person who was taking about the gel being cold: The baby cannot feel the gel they put on your belly. There are several layers of tissue, muscle, and fat between the outside of your belly and the inside of your womb.
Now onto the question:
The sonogram is able to give us a picture because of the same reasons a bat can "see" even though bats are blind. Sonar or sound waves are sent out by the probe and bounce around your insides and back to the probe. The probe and machines then decode this data into a picture based on the sound waves. Now more than likely the baby cannot actually hear this high a frequency but they may sense that something has altered a bit about their surroundings and they are (for lack of a better term) agitated by it. Also, if the technician pushes down on your belly (as some do) that also changes the baby's environment a bit.

It's all completely normal and you should be thrilled that your baby is doing so well. When I was pregnant with my daughter, she absolutely hated having scans and would punch and kick the scanner! It was really funny whenever the midwife was trying to listen to the heartbeat because all you would hear was my little human beatbox trying to kick the scanner into kingdom come! In the end, the midwife assumed that if my baby was well enough to be doing that, she probably didn't need to worry about the heartbeat!

That is normal and has nothing to do with how the baby wil behave. Its good that she is kicking alot like that. The Tech and nurse were laughing the other day when I got an ultrasound and my baby was diong the same things. Guess they were entertained by it..:)

all babies kick around alot in the stomach, its quite hard to get a baby to keep still during a scan.
everythings very normal and it def dont mean that he/she is going to be naughty- not from a scan.

I am 17 weeks pregnant and when I heard my babies heart beat, it took her awhile to find it because the baby kept moving away because of the cold gel she put on my stomach. Your baby could just have been saying, HEY that's cold and I don't like that. I'm sure that your baby is fine.

Ultrasounds are actually rather unpleasant for baby.
Most will wake up and get active during one- they often actually try to get away from the scan.
My younger boy took the tech twice as long as normal to get his measurements. She had to try over and over because he just would not let her find him- then she gave up with a few measurements left blank.
