I would say that it's more acceptable to badmouth men in western society. Oprah, self-help books, late night talk shows; they all seem to casually make negative blanket statements about men that wouldn't be acceptable if the counterpart was said about women. Whenever I've read a self-help book, the example difficult person is a male, more than 1/2 the time. The shows that do badmouth women are much more obvious and extreme, like Tom Leykis or The Man Show. Even Loveline, where women are badmouthed by both Adam and Dr. Drew, men are badmouthed at least as often. Neither sex is more than a slight bit better or worse than the other, all things considered, right?

HELLO, posters! He did not say "is it acceptable," he said "is it MORE acceptable." Don't try to weasel your way out of answering the actual question, because everybody that understands a shred of current society understands that men (usually white men) are shafted in this country. You can call somebody a "cracker," a "chauvinist," a "sexist," and the like, as long as they are WHITE men. Well, time to wake up, heathens; the WHITE man gave us the overwhelming majority of what we have today! He gave us the computer, he gave us glorious literature, he took the slaves from Africa to the Promised Land! (Well, OK, I'll concede that it wasn't all that glorious, but still... better in America than in most of Africa today, no?)

I think we need a "Celebrate the White Man™ Week" in America. Hell, we have a Black History month and a Women's History month, why not celebrate the greatest thing we've got going for us?

Sorry for the rant.

Men, only men of certain ethnicities though. I think if blacks are beeing badmouthted in the US, by saying that they would all still live in straw huts without white men for exampel (which isnt a bad thing, Iam not beeing racist here, if you percieve this as racism you need to see somone for anger managment and to get your head checked), it would cause an uproar, or Europeans badmouthing Arabds muslims, that would cause major troubel and flagburning. (Astonishing how they always get their hands on the right flag in a jiffy, they must keep a good collection.).

I think one shouldnt badmouth any sex. but if a guy badmouths a guy and a girl badmouths a girl ...then i dont think anyone will have a problem.
At one end ...men are taught that its un-gentlemanly to put down femalez. and the other hand sayz ....gender equality. so being equal ...no one is better or worse. so yeah ...i agree.

If it appears it is more acceptable to bad mouth men, then I think it's because it is assumed that men won't be as offended as women. I'm sure this isn't the case, but maybe that's because men sometimes act as if they are not offended when they truly are.

HTH.

It is not acceptable to bad mouth anyone in public. How would you feel if that was done to you? If there's a problem with someone talk to them privately in a kind tactful manner, showing genuine concern.
