I made a model tank few weeks ago but I used airplane glue it still holds but just recently the whole thing fell apart?
Why is that so?

It depends on what material your model tank was and what type of airplane glue you used. General hobby glue is made for plastics and works with some resin model kits. The higher end model cement will work with about any material but in small scales(don't try 1:20)! I would recommend going down to your local hobby shop or even a Longs Drugs/Walmart/Target and purchase the following:
Testors Liquid Plastic Cement
Another reason your model may have fell apart is if the cement is too old. The older the cement gets, the less "bonding" ability it has and will not join the parts together as strong as it should. You can also check out the Testor's website to see the various cements available and their recommended applications.

"Airplane Glue" ? Not sure whether you're talking airplane-dope, or white glue, or plastic cement.
MOST models are styrene plastic and you should use a styrene CEMENT (like Testors Plastic Cement)... this is applied on the seam/ joint with a brush... the cement is a solvent that "welds" the two surfaces together.
I've never had a problem with Testors on a styrene model. On Resin or ABS or etched-metal parts I use either cyanoacrylate (Krazy Glue) or epoxy.

try using regular model glue!!!!!!!!!!

There could have been mold release agent on the plastic. the Cement could have been old..... there's a few reasons behind.

airplane glue... got to be... not good enough... hey, but you could always buy a real tank!!! of the government!!! decommissioned........... whatever
