It started once and then i turned it off, when i tried to re-start it, it completely died on me. Could it be electrical and is there anything i can do before a mechanic.

Charge the battery and check there is power to the ignition coil - but it could also be a knackered solenoid. Sell the battery and buy a better car?

Try with a boost to see if the starter is good. If it starts with boost then your problem is the battery, most parts outlets will bench test it for you for free. Batteries generally have a life of 5 yrs average.

If you've replaced your battery within the last 3 years or so, then you could try disconnecting the battery cables and cleaning the connections with a wire brush. Reconnect and thighten them.

need more details does it turn over but not start, but if it don't turn over it could be the battery or starter if it does turn over it be the fuel pump or the ignition also battery terminal could be loose corroded...

clean the battery terminals. 9of 10 times thats it ..jump it amd get to parts store [zdvance,autozone or oreily] they can check battery,starter and alternator,right there for free.
