people call the wnba for women, the w means women. Why can't they call the nba the mnba for men so that the m could stand for men?

Because the NBA started in 1950 from the BAA and has grown into a respected league

the NBA financially supports the WNBA and withthe W in front they are letting them live off the NBA name which helps them a lot with instant credibility

If it wasn't for the NBA this league would have folded after the first year as they aren't making any money and the NBA is keeping them afloat

Ok. There are many things the WNBA has done that the NBA only did once or not at all. Only 1 NBA team, Boston Celtics, have ever done that the WNBA has done: Win more than 3 straight championships, which was done by the Houston Comets from the inagural season 1997 to 2000. Also I don't recall any NBA team doing this, in 2003, the WNBA team top team in the league Detroit Shock won the WNBA championship, despite being the worst team in the LEAGUE the year before in front of an NBA capacity crowd at the Palace of Auburn Hills of 22076. Now sure, they can't do all things the men can do, but come on give the WNBA its props. They have done some things that are pretty amazing including shots. For example, Teresa Weatherspoon's halfcourt buzzer beating shot in game 2 of the 1999 WNBA Finals that stunned both a Houston Comets team and an NBA sellout crowd of 16,285 at the Compaq Center.

There is no discrimination, the real issue is nobody knows how basketball is supposed to be played because the NBA is more about entertainment and making money. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but people don't understand how the game of basketball is meant to be played. The WNBA does a better job of that.

Because the WNBA hasn't even been around for 15 years, so the NBA can do what they want. U can decipher the 2 leagues right? Whay do u need to change anything.

Sports fans have a hard time accepting women sports as equal to men. Just look a Wimbledon tennis finally paying the women the same as men.

The WNBA is basketball as it should be played, with passing, moving without the ball and quick defense, where the men "out muscle" the opponents to win the game.

because the nba was the origional. the women didn't come around for a while. so they just called it the nba because there was no other. but there is a lot of discrimination because the women's league is not as high flying as the men.
