The new glass bottom overlook is opening in March. Don't go in the middle of the summer as it is very hot most summer days...often too hot to be enjoyable.
Any other time of the year should be great.

Anytime between the first of November and the ides of march. The weather can be cold and there can be snow on the rims extending down 1500-2000' But with the exception of holiday times , the crowds are down, the rates are lower , all the roads are drivable and the Canyon in snow is absolutely beautiful . If you're a hiker the weather in the inner canyon is perfect and snow-melt coming off the rims provides water in places that it would never occur in summer.

l usially find that daytime is best, but seriously, l went there in summertime and it was great, tho l did spend a few days travelling from vagas and back when l could have got a fly tour which involves flying right into the canyon, this would have cost the same amount as fuel/accomidation as l spent the lond way.
