I want a nice, thick, "green" yard. Right now I have a lot of areas of brown, I think a fescue?. Should I reseed, keep fertilizing and weed control. What's my next step?

The areas of brown in your lawn can either be from insects or fungus. Most likely it is a fungus this time of year with the weather conditions we have had. You should keep fertilizing for a thick, healthy green lawn. If you do not irrigate, wait until September to apply Ferti*lome's Lawn Food Plus Iron. It has iron for fast immediate greening, and two types of nitrogen, which allow quick greening and long term stable growth. Then in November you should apply Ferti*lome's Winterizer. This will build winter hardiness, stem strength and disease resistance. You will notice a thicker and greener lawn earlier in the spring.

In the spring be sure to add some type of weed and feed fertilizer high in nitrogen. Late spring or early summer over-seed your bare spots and be sure to keep it moist until the seeds germinate. The key to keeping a lawn a nice healthy green colour is to be sure to give it adequate water and to fertilize. You may also want to add a fall fertilizer. Compost is wonderful for lawns. When cutting your grass don't bag it leave the clippings on the lawn, this adds valuable nitrogen back into the soil.

If its in patches you can rip the patches out and reseed it. Also do you happen to have a female dog at all? This certainly would make brown patches on your yard if she urinates on your grass. I do NOT know why this is just a chemical in the urine. But I hope this may help just a little :)
