When I first saw her, she was wearing a not so attractive brownish dress that didn't flatter her fuller figure. After she won, she had a beautiful gold gown that really looked great. Also, I didn't see the movie, was she really a good actress or just a terrific singer. And did she play Billy Holiday? I was a little disappointed that the woman that played the Mexican nanny in Babel didn't win.

I am not sure what gold dress you saw her in. She did have on gold jacket over the hideous dress she was wearing and the gold jacket look like something from Star Trek. She was a fashion disaster. However I am happy that she won. She did not play Billie Holliday, the movie was loosely based on Dianna Ross and the Supremes. She acted well and her voice is awesome. She definitely deserved to win. I am glad that Beyonce didn't win because she cannot act, she should either stop trying to act and stick to singing or take acting lessons.

The woman in the Mexican nanny wasn't nearly as good as J-Hud. Her acting was outstanding and her voice in the moive was just over the top. You have to keep in mind this is a woman who has never acted in her life and to win a Oscar right out of the box you know her performance had to be awsome. I agree with you, that brown chocolate dress was not as flattering but her other dresses were gorgous, and to think that guy "AnDre" from Vogue Magazine dressed her.

but she had a strange jacket type thing on the red carpet but not while accepting her award
