Blood clots are just clumps of pooled blood in the vagina, sometimes instead of flowing freely, blood drains from the uterus and stays in the vagina, until there is a change in position, say from sitting to standing when the clot is expelled. It is not dangerous and perfectly normal.

The surface of the uterus, which thickens before your period in preparation for the egg to implant itself on. When the egg dies, hormone levels alter & this lining is shed as a period. The uterus does produce an anti-clotting factor to enable the blood to pass through the cervix, but if your period is heavy, this factor can run out & you form clots. Cramping occurs when these clots are being passed throught the cervix, which is why a heavy period & bad cramping goes hand in hand.
Hope this helps

The reason that sometimes women get clots during their period (and this is normal by the way) is because the uterus is trying to shed itself of the broken down lining (called the endometrium) that is no longer needed. The uterus builds up this lining in preparation for a fertilized egg to attach and start growing in to a baby. When the woman does not become pregnant that month the uterus then gets the signal from the pituitary gland (this is what controls the hormones and tells the body when to have a period) to start shedding it.

The size can range from as small as a dime to the size of a quarter. If it is anything bigger than that then the woman needs to see her dr to have it looked in to to try and figure out what is going on.

i'm no doctor but when you have a period you shed the lining of your womb, when you bleed your blood automatically starts to clot to stem the bleeding, but as its natural for us women to have periods we pass the blood clots. It's not dangerous and you shouldn't worry about it.

its normal to get clots as the wall of your uterus that has built up to accommodate a baby comes away and is dispelled from your body no worries about tht.

Because the lining of your womb thickens in readiness for fertilisation & when that doesn't happen the extra layer breaks away & is discharged, that's what your period basically is.
