All Banks start by saying it's your fault.

My main tips are :-
Don't agree to ANYTHING on the phone - better don't speak to them at all on the phone (they record every conversation and may find something that can be used as evidence that you admitted it was your fault).

Stick to the subject eg. "I still have my Card with me now. I have never written down or revealed my PIN number to anyone. I have never used a Cash Machine outside UK. I was in (London etc) on the dates the card was used." and so on.

Stick to you guns - if you have been defrauded it's the banks fault for not having more 'robust' anti-fraud systems in place. Never give up and always keep copies of all letters you send them.

It's the same with all banks. When you receive a credit card in the post, you have to phone them up and go through security to activate it. This is not the case with a debit card.

It has been known for the PIN number and card to be delivered at the same time.

I know of someone who used thier card via PIN and the shop deducted too low of a figure. When this person got their statement, it had two amounts on totalling the correct amount. When she checked with the shop, they had noticed the same day, recalled the transaction and put another one through with the same details. Mad thing is, the bank wasn't bothered !!!

At first they will blame you and some weeks can go by before the money reappears.
