Depending on your belief system if there was one single attribute we would all be Mother Theresa or Hitler. Consequently, there is no single greatest attribute, it is a combination of our strengths and weaknesses that make each of us unique. Look around you and note what you admire about the people you associate with; is it only one characteristic that you admire? Probably not. Empathy, sympathy, intelligence, humor, kindness, and the rest are all traits we aspire to, but some of us aren't funny or kind or smart. But we have the ability to change in ourselves those things we aspire to. We can rise above humble or mean beginnings, we can develop the characteristics we see and admire in other people (for the good or bad), or we can sink to desperate lows and generate fear and hate. So perhaps there is a single greatest attribute after all-our ability to remake ourselves into the person we hope to be.

The process of conscious judgment, or basically our ability to think problems through and find an answer. It sets us apart from all other animals on this earth. This ability allows us to solve the most complicated math problems, seek new cures for illness, and provides us with new innovations for even everyday basic needs, (Food, shelter, and clothing).

Empathy. There are a lot of important ones, but you can have those in abundance without empathy and not be much of a human being.

Charity.
We are all programmed for self-survival. Bucking that programming for the well-being of others is the highest and noblest good we can acheive under our own power.
