As the title suggests, the story reminds us that too much pride or prejudice can lead us to make wrong decisions -- and hamper our ultimate happiness.

How do you recommend it? Tell the person you liked the book, a sentence or two why, and that you think they'd like it. The opening line is one of the best ever. It is also a novel that is referenced in academia often, and that any college-educated or well-read person is assumed to know.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

For the first part, just say, 'Hey, this is a good book, why don't you read it?'
