Real diamonds comes with a certificate of authencity while Cubic zirconia can be purchased at over the counter ie : costume jewellry shops,Departmental stores, small accessories shops while diamonds are usually sold at reputable jewellry shops & u can tell when the shop has lotsa CCTV..lol.. hope it helped! Plus diamond can scratch glass thats for sure and a real diamond can also have seriel numbers in em which cant be seen by the naked eye. :D

Peep into the jewelry appraiser device and scracth diamond with hard object tester. If it leaves mark, its zirconia. Otherwise, no. To ordinary layman, Diamond sparkles in the dark.

You have to show it to an expert. Otherwise it is very possible that you'll be fooled. The glass cutting is also a good test.
