To give an intricate sense of hope. Like, whatever happens, some kind of apocalypse, war...basically the end of the world, there is still a new hope, a new beginning. Everything will be destroyed and we'll go back from ground zero. It's what is meant by 'day after tomorrow'. Tomorrow may be bad, but it's the day after that we're into. The deluge is not the main focus, as we'll try to survive it no matter what; the main focus is, when the deluge is gone, look what's left, a clean planet, it's beautiful. Keep your hopes up!...

This movie seems to lead up to the day after tomorrow by doing the following:
1) Starts with a meeting with scientists. One scientist wants to speak to another about his findings. 1st day.
2) Crazy weather beginning to happen all over the world. Scientist finds facts that may be causing it. Talks to Vice President who think he is full of crap. 2nd Day.
3) The crap hits the fan. This is when everything does crazy. This is the day I call tomorrow because we may think that this may be around the corner. All the action happens on this day.
4) The following day. The storms are over. The people stuck in the sky lab says that the clouds are clear and the earth looks clean. All the people are beginning to be rescued and even the Vice President (Now the President since the other one died in a plane crash) gives a speech. This is what I say is the day after tomorrow.
It would seem the the emphasis would be on this day and how we will handle it. Seems like a good enough idea to me.

It's meant to be a representation of the apathetic stance people take on global warming. You know, kind of like how the phrase "never put off til tomorrow what you can do today" basically means "don't be lazy".
Global Warming is real, people! Stop trying to prevent the natural climate cycle of the Earth!

Not sure if it was mentioned in the movie, but I think it may have something to do with the fact that people don't think it's going to happen. So it's a case of 'not tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow'... so let's not get our knickers in a knot just yet.
Global warming is REAL, people! Stop wasting electricity!!!
