My ex pays half of what he's ordered to. It's not paid through the court. How much willa lawyer charge me to get him to pay the right amount through the courts? He is also out of state. Social Services is no help at all. The only lawyer I talked to wanted 2,ooo. Seems like nobody cares. He makes his own rules, pays what he feels like, and gets away with it. IF I had 2,000 I wouldn't need his dam support for the kids.

Don't tell me to get a job, I already work full time.

well, in my country if a woman is unemployed a lawer will be free for her. so my advice would be on the contrary - lose a job for a while and become unemployed. a lawer will be free for u (goverment pays for it) and u will get all what your hubby hasn't payed to u yet. then u can get your job back. good luck

ps. if u re working u will have to pay for lawer, and court is such a long process, and u will have to pay again and again. i say 2000 is the least u can pay to your lawer. count on much more

can't you find a Friend of Court Social Worker? If you go to a lawyer then you are going to be costing you some money.

Yes, you are right as no one seems to care after the divorce and the man has split but I had to come up with the money and I was told by my lawyer to pay an extra $.5.00 a week more for the arrears...i hope this don't happen to you as you need that support money now..and what was five dollars going to buy...but i left the state and worked out of state and the Friend of Court went along with this plan..duh..so I got a break but my ex wife got shafted and when they became eighteen she expected a lot of back pay and it did not happen and the courts did not enforce the divorce agreement...well, I spent money on them in different ways as I always bought their school clothes and every summer we would go on a great vacation...like Disney World..but no it is not fair to the women especially if she is not getting ADC..as you are on your own and the Gov't is kind of back logged when it comes to the enforcement of this..but be persistent and sooner or later you may get some money..Good Luck ..I hope your kids are doing good

I was in the same situation. I expected the court system that ordered the child support to enforce it. It took me a while to learn that the court system, (at least in this state) doesn't have an enforcement division. I had to have the case turned over to the Child Welfare Agency - which does have an enforcement division. Now, payments are being made and sanctions are in place to insure that this continues to happen. Let me add a word of support and encouragement. Lawyers are well paid to fill out a lot of forms at great cost to you. Be your own lawyer. Be aggressive in finding out everything that a lawyer should do for you and do it yourself. This may mean paying 2 - 5$ for an enforcement petition or for transfer of the case to an enforcement agency plus the cost of a notary, then submit the papers on your own behalf. You'd be surprised at how much you can do for yourself in the legal system. There are sanctions that can reach across state borders, like recovery of any tax refund, lotery winnings, denial of application for passport, or garnishment of any money he may receive from federal sources. I hope this helps.

There is a child support division of the State Attorney's office. Contact them. Let them know what is going on. Make sure that you have a copy of your child support order. Otherwise, you can check out legal aid. They could also point you in the right direction. Fortunately in FL they now have most payments going through the state, just to stop this exact thing from happening. Good Luck and make sure he pays the back support he owes!!!

Some states have legal aid type programs which may be of help...with regard to the cost, only that particular attorney can tell you. Your local social services department should be of some assistance but try contacting the office where he is located and see if you can get anywhere. Also, contact his employer...talk to his supervisor. Sorry you're going through this...mine doesn't pay anything...I'd be pretty happy with half in all honesty, but I completely understand what you're saying.

Social services is NOT the same as child support. First go sign up for every program you're eligible for (food stamps, medical assistance etc). Then go to the child support enforcement agency (at your county courthouse) and apply for services. TELL THEM YOU WANT THEM TO ENFORCE YOUR ORDER FOR SUPPORT! IT IS THEIR JOB! If you were divorced in another state/county BRING A COPY OF YOUR DIVORCE including the FINDINGS OF FACTand/or MARTIAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT which should include your child support order. (If you don't have it--call the county where you were divorced or your attorney and get a copy!) Since he is out of state, tell the Child support worker you need to fill out a UIFSA (interstate enforcement) form. Use this link to find your local agency:

http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/extinf.html

If your local county gives you the run around--CALL THE STATE OFFICES and complain. You don't need to pay a lawyer when it is the local child support agency's job to enforce child support!

Good Luck ~

Where do you live? Where I am you don't have to have a lawyer...just go to court and file paperwork. The judge will decide what he pays and child enforcement will go after him.

Same thing happend to my mom. When he came back to the state she had him arrested. That will always get them to pay.

Good luck you can always try calling the AG of that state and see what they can do. Its just sad that fathers can take care of there own. They need a national database to take care of this. ohh find a new lawyer $300 would be my max

as a fashion to qualify for any government help, the state will often make the discern have some sort of youngster help settlement in place. there may well be some issues that they might qualify for, looking on how lots he makes. If he's claiming he resides someplace else.. that must be unlawful. in spite of the undeniable fact that.. if he has wide-unfold place of residing someplace else, (say his mum and dad abode) and on occasion spends the night together with her, then its no longer in all danger mendacity.
