I found an old check thats like $200 and the expiration date is way past due. Did I just lose that money? or are there any alternatives to find a way to get it reissued to me. It's one of those after 180 or whatever days to be voided if not cashed.

It's from my car insurance years ago. Will they still have it on file?

Call the insurance company and tell them you need a replacement check. You can't cash it because it's no longer any good but the insurance company will reissue the check.

They may ask you to send the original check back first or they may just tell you to shred it. In either case, they should be able to send you a new check but you'll need to call them.

no you cannot cash it....that would be committing fraud. Whoever the check is from contact them and ask them if they could re-issue you another check as you had not cashed the 1st one in time. You will probably have to send them the old check.

SOL for you. They will not issue you another check. They paid you and you refused to cash it.

Checks are stale and will not be cashed 6 months after the issue date.
