I'm only 12wks and have already put on 4-5 kg (I think) . I was pretty small to begin with, but I'm just worried that I'm eating way too much... is this an unhealthy gain considering Im pregnant (duh lol). I know it differs for everyone, but I'm curious. This is my second and the first was, again, very different... I know im being paranoid, but this is the one thing that I cant get off my mind...

Hi there. I would not worry about it. So long as you are eating healthy foods that are good for your baby it is not a problem. Stop and ask yourself before you eat something "is this good for the baby?" and if the answer is "no", don't do it. Otherwise maybe your body is telling you that you need some extra nutrition for all the demands that are being put on you right now.
I hope that you are taking your prenatal vitamins as they are so very important early in your pregnancy.
Focus on "growing" a healthy baby and don't worry about the numbers on the scale. As I always tell my mothers " you have the rest of your life to diet and only 9 months to give this baby everything that it needs". Hopefully you will continue to nourish your baby with your breastmilk in which case you should not even consider dieting until your baby is done nursing. You will use up about 1000 calories everyday that you totally nurse your baby. That is a substantial number of calories to burn up without exercising and it is the only time in your life that you will get that kind of a break!
Take care sweetie and focus on that precious baby that is growing inside of you and NOT on how much weight you have gained. Eat healthy!
Love and Blessings

Well, I'm 13 weeks pg and already looking 4/5 months!!! I've put on half a stone, gone from 12/14 to 16. It's my 4th baby and it's been the same each time, except with first I was a size 8/10 - it's just going up each time!! I reckon it's cos I'm short and all my insides are being pushed up earlier than most people!! I really wouldn't worry about it. They will measure the amount of water you are carrying at your scan and if it's loads they'll tell you thats the reason for the weight gain.
I mentioned it to my m/w last week that I'd put on half a stone and she said - thats about right - so don't stress too much!!

I was heavy to start with (not too heavy tho!) but I'm 4ths pregnant, and I've gained 1kg. Everyone is different. I don't think it should be a problem

no its normal however if your eating unhealthy foods it may be more difficult to shift after birth. if your hungry then eat but try eating fruit for snack and make sure potato's/bread are a part of your main meal, they fill you up and are healthy!
