Its my tution homework! could somebody plz tell me soon why its called vulgar, i know what it is, i just need to know why its called 'vulgar'!!

A fraction whose numerator is greater than its denominator is known as a vulgar fraction. It is also known as improper fraction.
Examples include: 5/2 , 7/3 , 5/4 etc.

The most correct use of the word "vulgar" is the sense of "common or ordinary" It doesn't really mean rude and dirty (Except that rude also means common or ordinary)

Vulgar fractions are just your plain old common everyday fractions.
