How far "I love the person you are" stands from "I love you" ?

the 1st means "i love you, but i'm not in love with you". the 2nd means "i'm in love with you, but i don't love you" 99.9% of the time

They don't love you... It means they like how you are, but they're not in love with you. It's a declairation of friendship.
