We recycle used computers, the clearing of bios password is never the same on 2 machines.
Generally there is normally a jumper (small black connector) on the mother board or a button on some Dell machines. It is usally marked "Clr Bios" or "PWD" or something like that. Swap the jumper to it's alternate position (or press and hold the button)
Boot up the machine and the password should be cleared. Put the jumper back when done.
As a last resort you can remove the BIOS battery (looks like a 10 pence piece or 25c pc) while the PC is off, you will then need to short out the battery contacts on the motherboard to discharge it. (or leave it for a while) Switch on the machine and then replace the battery if it has worked.
If you find this all difficult to understand then you need an engineer to do it for you.

if you are using XP, and it is the password i am thinking of use these steps.
INTRODUCTION
This step-by-step article describes how to configure an automatic administrator logon for Recovery Console. If you configure an automatic administrator logon, anyone can use Recovery Console to access your computer. They will not be prompted for an administrative password.
Configure automatic administrator logon for Recovery Console
To set an automatic administrator logon for the Recovery Console, complete the following steps while you are logged on with administrative credentials:
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Switch to Classic View in the right pane, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Local Security Policy.
3.Expand Security Settings, expand Local Policies, and then click Security Options.
4.Double-click the Recovery Console: Allow automatic administrative logon policy, and then set it to Enable.
The policy is effective immediately. Make sure that you reopen the Local Security Policy snap-in to make sure that the effective setting for the policy is "Enabled."
or try just pressing return leaving the password blank.
i hope that is the correct password you are on about if not try and do a google search for forgotten system bios password
good luck

The battery mentioned above on your mother board will have a small plastic jumper next to it.
There are three contacts the jumper is on one of them and the centre contact, simply move the jumper to the unused contact and the centre contact then replace on the original contacts.
This will clear all Bios Passwords and settings. You will need to re-set all of your bios settings.

there isn't a default, you must of done it, try resetting your bios....that is done by opening your pc, then on the motherboard you will come across a thin circular battery, like the ones in organisers, watches (but bigger) take that out, wait for an hour then put it back in, then try...
or google it to see what other people have done
