my limewire stopped working and it's telling me, "limewire detected firewall", but my firewall is off so it's most likely a virus. i know if i delete limewire (which i have to) i'll lose all my music. how can i save it all without having to burn bunches of cd's? please help, i have so much music i don't want to lose.

When you first started Limewire, it asked you what folder to store your music in. So you can easily backup your music by running a search for a song in your collection, locating that folder and saving it somewhere else. I would save it on your desktop, or maybe C:\Temp\Music or something like that. Although if you uninstall (which you should do instead of just deleting the Limewire folder) it won't touch your files.

But on the firewall: a firewall can be made by Windows, it can be a program on your computer (are you the only one on that computer?), or a firewall could be on the network in a router or a modem. Having a firewall is actually a very good thing and I don't think you should get rid of Limewire just because it found a firewall. Also, I have never heard of a virus that presented itself as a firewall. That doesn't sound like a virus at all. I know you said it isn't working, but how isn't it working? Are you still able to run searches? Can you still download? If you can, then I would keep Limewire and not worry about it. All the firewall would do is prevent people or programs from attacking your computer. It shouldn't stop Limewire from doing anything.

But if you do decide to uninstall, when you reinstall, it will ask you again where your music is and all you have to do is point it to that folder. Simple.
