I know exactly what you are talking about. I went through the same thing and got rid of the problem, so I know what I am talking about. Read this and try it. You can find all of the mentioned downloads online for free.
I use these personally, AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware SE Professional and Windows Clean Up. Ad-Aware has a free version that works well.
I recently had a Trojan that hijacked my home page and turned all kinds of things loose in my computer. I used the above mentioned to help get rid of it. This is the way you do it if your system has been infected and possibly hijacked.
Make sure your computer is disconnected from the Internet. Start your computer up in ‘Safe Mode’ by pressing the F8 key. Then run through each one of the above mentioned or whatever you choose to use. Once they are all done checking and cleaning your computer, go into ‘System Restore’, pick a day before the incident happened and follow the instructions.
This should help remove most problems from your computer and allow it to function properly. If you still have problems, do it all again. But the next time you do the 'System Restore', you'll have to pick a different day.
The #1 thing to remember is to make sure you are not connected to the Internet. And always run them in ‘Safe Mode’. That way, the virus doesn’t have a chance to run in the background and try to hide.
No matter what program you use, you should always make sure there is no Internet connection and run them in safe mode. That will ensure that nothing is running in the background that could potentially sabotage your efforts.
The links to some of the most popular downloads have already been posted, so I won’t post any more. Here is where you can get some other links posted by others here.

I feel the more protection the better when it comes to spyware. First and foremost for an extra layer of protection against spyware, I would get a free program called "spyware blaster" (free; download.com). Unlike most other spyware programs, this one prevents spyware from entering your computer in the first place (proactive as opposed to reactive). If you do get spyware, I would use "Spybot Search and Destroy" (free; download.com) and Super Antispyware" (free; download.com)
If you want a clean computer that will last a long time, I suggest you get all of above. It never hurts to have extra protection! All of the above are great programs. Just my 2 cents...

I am having the same problem with my computer. On the web search, go to Norton Antivirus.com. You can download this program for free. This might help your computer, if it doesn,t, believe me it is worth purchasing the rest of the program. I had this protecton before, and let it run out. Big mistake. Now I have to have my computer completely re-done by a pro. Hope this helps you. Norton is really the best!

this might look complicated, yet you'll want the two and probably even a third undercover agent ware application. undercover agent ware application bypass by a signature record that tells them in the experience that your laptop is contaminated or no longer. all of them do no longer share the comparable signature leaving some undercover agent ware undetected by one supplier and detected by the different. so while you're int he marketplace for a undercover agent ware application get advert-conscious and Spybot. they're the two loose
